"THE AMERICAN"

  (Take A look Around  9-11)

"The American"  is a musical call to "lend a helping hand" and speaks about the generosity of Americans.

Words that speak about sharing the burden, about lending a helping hand, seem to strike the right chord in the aftermath of the savage attack on the World Trade Center.

Originally written about carrying on after the loss of my parents,  I was an only adopted child who was very close to those parents, and was touched to my core by their loss.

"THE AMERICAN"

Oh why can't I, be like the guy, who never seems to care or understand?
It seems to me, I'm trying hard to be, the very best man, I can.

I look around the town,
to see what can be found.
If there's a place to lend a hand...

When I was young, I had fun, I had no way of knowing
No way of knowing what was planned.
Life took a turn, it forced me to learn,  to carry like you're still there.

I walk around your town,
To see who can be found.
IF there's a place to lend a hand?

I learned so very much that sunny day, all those heroes, all those lives
I hope and pray, they're with Thee today, to stay...

Instrumental

That's why I, can't be like those guys, who never learned to care or understand.
It seems to me, it's time for us to be, the very best that we can….

 Look around your town.
And see what can be found.
If there's a place, to lend a hand.

If you take a look around....
